Bushenyi: Rev Nahamya Escapes from Cells after Being Sentenced to 6 Months

Security in Bushenyi are hunting for Rev. Steven Namanya for escaping from chief magistrates court cells after being committed for 6 months in prison for failing to pay a loan of shs1.9 million.

Grade I magistrate at Bushenyi court Mr. Asanasio Mukobe had committed Rev. Namanya to Bushenyi prison for allegedly failing to pay a loan that he obtained from Evans Kahwite of Ishaka town Bushenyi district.

According to the court file, Rev. Namanya hails from Rugarama Rushenyi county Ntungamo district and serves in South Ankole diocese.

Eye witnesses said after the man of God was committed to Nyamushekyerera for 6 months, relatives started raising the money while the Nahamya was in court cells awaiting to be transferred to prison.

Eyewitness added that he walked gently with his collar in his neck through the gates of court and disappeared in thin air.

Police and court bailiff have since mounted a hunt for Rev Nahamya to be taken to prison as court had ruled.
