The Inspector General of government has summoned both senior and junior police officers to appear for grilling for swindling government funds.
They are accused of pocketing over shs 200m which was meant to be given to over 300 police officers who were deployed in Kazzi- Kiggo during the international scouts’ centenary jamboree in 2015 as their allowances.
The said money was said by ACP Jamaal Basalirwa led police protocol office signed this money but up to now no junior officer has ever got a single coin.
The beneficiaries were told that ministry of labour and gender did not release the money.
Officers who have been summoned by the IGG are head protocol ACP Jamal Basalirwa, ASP Henry Kalulu, IP Isaac Gudoi, IP Johnbosco Mugerwa, AIP Joseph Otim,AIP Benson Ogwang, PC Charles Tsongo, PC John Esiru.
Basalirwa is reported to have used part of the loot to go to Mecca for Hijja and is now a Hajji.
When contacted Ali Munira the IGG spokesperson said the suspects are expected to appear this week for questioning.
