MUSEVENI’s OFFICE: Besigye Did Not Go to Bush to Liberate M7, Him Too Had Nothing

National Chairman, President Yoweri Museveni, continues to be the universal subject of talk. Take the case of four-time presidential election loser, Dr Kizza Besigye who, while at the burial of Ms Stella Njuba at Nangabo, claimed to love the NRM National Chairman Museveni than anyone else does. Dr Besigye added that he loved Museveni when he (Museveni) had nothing (to offer compared with others who associate with him apparently for what they get from him).

It was not the first time Besigye was advancing that kind of reasoning which he uses to try and discredit those who work alongside the NRM National Chairman in service of the nation. As expected, critical thinkers can see right through his ploy because it is a materialistic and debased view of politics and power relations.

When Dr Besigye chose to follow Museveni to the bush, it was not for personal friendship but for purposes of liberating himself and his people, whoever they were. There was no option since he, too, had nothing and was fleeing for dear life. He could not have expected to be paid to liberate himself. If he all along he thought he was in the bush fighting for Museveni then finally he can correct the misconception.

In any case, when that phase of the struggle ended the likes of Besigye, who looked at positions of national service as a reward for “work done”- and after amassing personal satisfaction, decided to abdicate duty. They embarked on undoing the good while confusing Ugandans to misdirect them from making their own contribution for Uganda.

The NRM National Chairman Museveni has kept the struggle alive by co-opting “post-liberators” to work with; each making individual contributions in their own right and their effort must not be downplayed. They don’t work for Museveni but for the country- Uganda. Museveni happens to be the most capable lifetime liberator and partner to work with in countering Uganda’s problems. Nobody can love him without loving Uganda and vice versa. It is as simple as that!
