The sacking of the embattled Executive director Uganda Investments Authority Jolly Kaguhangire was sanctioned by the president Museveni, this website has learnt.
It is reported that this was after Museveni getting information that many investors are running to neighboring countries after being asked bribes by officials at the Authority supposed to protect and give them a conducive environment.
Museveni last month reportedly summoned Kaguhangire to state house in Entebbe and ordered to resign without being forced by board.
She refused to step down and the presidents ordered IGG to start investigating her with other security agencies.
They all agreed with board of directors that it’s jolly who caused the running away of investors.
Working on president’s orders, Board went ahead and implemented the directives.
The Interdiction comes just days after a petition was filed to the office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) over mismanagement of the agency, requesting the IGG to investigate the executive director over several accounts.
UIA staff requested the IGG to investigate Kaguhangire on grounds of incompetence, nepotism in the ongoing restructuring of the agency and insubordination.
Speaking to this website on phone Thursday morning Dr Emely Kugonza said “the board reviewed the situations surrounding the institution basing on what has been happening and took a decision to interdict the executive director for a period of three months”.
Kugonza added that, agency has a zero-tolerance to corruption policy but there have been corruption allegations against the executive director, the head of the agency’s secretariat.
He also explained that there have been internal issues of insubordination, impunity and abuse of office as well as failure to implement the board’s resolutions by the executive director.
Kugonza cited irregular activities that were done under Kaguhangire watch.
Kaguhangire’s Past Dirt
According to sources from URA narrated to this investigative website that, Kaguhangire was working with URA as Supervisor Mukono domestic tax officer, forged imprest accountability of her office which was meant to be for buying toilet paper, tea leaves, bread etc.
Sourced added that, she was taken to IGG when she was still in URA but since she was close friend of Allen Kagina formerly URA commissioner general nothing happened to that cause.
