Katwe police is holding a woman for allegedly kidnapping 14 children and killing two.
Brenda Babirye 29 from Kamuli had just been released from Luzira prison after completing her sentence on allegations of kidnap.
Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed the arrest saying she has been arrested alongside other nine other suspects whom she is alleged to have been working with.
Owoyesigyire added that her came after police first recovered two children who had gone missing in Makindye last week and handed them back to their parents who told detectives that the kidnapper pretended to be their aunt and later fled with the children.
It is indicated that Babirye would ask for a ransom from the parents immediately after the kidnap and would kill them if parents fail to release the ransom.
At the time of her arrest, police had been tracking on allegations of kidnapping two children from Nsangi which she confessed to have participated in the kidnap.
“She went to their homes and told them that she was their aunt and later went off with the kids,” said Owoyesigire.
She has also carried out kidnaps in Ntinda, Seeta, Bweyogerere Makindye, Katwe and Kamuli where the two kids who were kidnapped were later killed.
In Bweyogerere she kidnapped 3, Katwe 2, Nakaseke 01 two kids one of one year were killed, Nsangi 2 bringing the number to 14.
The suspect was found with out over 20 lines which she has been using to call parents.
