The Anti Corruption court based in Kololo has the summoned the Member of Parliament for Kawempe South Hon Munyagwa Mubarak who also doubles as the New Chairman for Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) to defend himself on allegations that he obtained shs 60m by false pretence.
The summons were signed and issued by Chief Magistrate Moses Nabenda and later forwarded to the office of the Speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga. Summons further indicate that Hon Munyagwa should appear before court on 15 February without fail.
It is alleged that the outspoken comedian Munyagwa received shs 60m from a prominent city businessman one Kakumba Francis assuring him that he would secure a job for his son at Land Board in Kawempe which he allegedly failed.
Hon Munyagwa was later arrested but released on police bond as investigations continued. His file was later sanctions by the DPP and preferred charges against him.
This is not the first time Hon Munyagwa is arrested; in 2017 court sentenced him to six month in Luzira prison after he failed to pay shs 100m he got from John Maali.
His troubles with Maali started way back in 2015 when Munyagwa got shs 100m from Maali and failed to give him the land after payment.
Maali alleged that Munyagwa through his agent, one Meddie Basajja, approached him saying he was interested in selling his land at Kyadondo Block 205, Plot 509 at Kawempe measuring 0.316 hectares.
Munyagwa then Kawempe Municipality division mayor reportedly confirmed to Maali that the land in question was his and that he bought it from one Sentongo Bakali and he was processing its title from Kampala District Land Board.
