M7 Forms Security Team to Probe Makerere, As Military Police Seals Off

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Commander In Chief of armed forces has formed a joint security team to probe the ongoing strike at Makerere University, we have exclusively and reliably been informed.  Makerere University has been on strike for close to two weeks after lecturers refused to work following the suspension of their fellow lecturers.

Security sources revealed to spyreports that President Museveni formed a security team to probe the University after he was informed that Makerere University Council the high governing body failed to reach a final understanding with striking lecturers.

State House sources added that the joint security team is comprised of officers from Special Forces Command (SFC), Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) Internal Security Organization (ISO) Uganda Police and General UPDF and is headed by Gen James Mugira.

Insiders from State House told us that President Museveni tasked the security to make a comprehensive report and submit to him in a period of one month and he will later make his final discussion on Makerere University.

Intelligence sources intimated to us that among the people who will be probed include the Makerere Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwa who is considered as the main problem for the University, Barugahare the University Secretary and other senior officials from the Senate.

Sources at Makerere told us that ever since Nawangwa took over the office as Makerere VC, he divided the University administration which is the cause of all this confusion. “VC is the main problem at Makerere, he wants to rule the University as a military barracks. He thinks what he says is absolutely right. He rejects other Professors advice,” reveals one of the senior lecturers at Makerere.

He added that Prof Nawanga even had troubles with the former Chairman of the Makerere Council Prof Etyanga.   Meanwhile heavy deployment of UPDF and police has been deployed at Makerere and surrounding areas after students went on strike. Several students including the Makerere University Guild President have been arrested.
